As I listen to the American plans to arm the Syrian rebels,
and ponder the 93,000 (and counting) confirmed dead…

As I reflect on the crimes of the mass murderer Bashar al-Assad
A prayer rises up in my heart.

Destruction of Syria (Aleppo)

Destruction of Syria (Aleppo)

The solution
is not arming this group
and that group

That game
only benefits the global arms industry
And the divides humanity
against humanity.

The answer is not in further arming.
But in disarming
the whole of humanity.

The jihadists we need
are those who would step in
to stop

Someday we have to come
to beat swords into ploughshares
And learning to live together
as brothers and sisters

Or surely we are already
Perishing like fools.

How things are now
Is not how they are meant to be
Is not how God
would have us live.

Each life
Is God’s masterpiece
And we are breaking God’s heart
Our own hearts.

The path to peace
Cannot go through war

We cannot attain to the Oneness of God
As we keep trampling upon the unity of humanity.

I know I am not the only one
Who knows this.

For Syria

For the world

Salam alaykum,
ya Bilad al-sham.

  1. Aw, this was an incredibly good post. Taking a few minutes and actual effort to produce a superb article… but what can I say… I hesitate a lot and don’t manage to get nearly anything done.
